Margate Soul Weekend

Margate Soul Festival is a three day event spread across multiple venues - from 100 capacity bars to the 1,900 capacity Winter Gardens via 4 outdoor stages and everything in between - including a Mi-Soul internet radio broadcast.

Our challenge was to supply sound and crew for all locations - to give an idea of scale, on that weekend we rented out 40 CDJs across Margate and the UK all from our own stock. We also supplied truss, rigging and lighting for three Winter Gardens stages.

PA-wise, we deployed Funktion Resolution to Funktion One Evolution systems and Coda Audio AiRay to ViRay systems, along with 6 A&H DLive mixing systems and amplification provided by FFA, Linea and Coda.

In smaller spaces we used a range of Funktion One Resolution 2 and Funktion One F81 & F101 systems, deployed in a variety of ways from 8 speaker distributed systems to standard stereo arrangements.

All sound and light systems were staffed by our crew - all in all we had a team of 15 crew out on site. On an event as complex as this, the benefits of having crew who have worked together for many years cannot be overstated. It made communication simple and clear, and co-operative, cheerful working makes everyone’s life easy.
